1. A partridge in a pear tree - Christ is depicted as a mother partridge who protects her young by pretending to be injured.  Luke 13:34

2. Two turtle doves - the old and new testaments

3. Three french hens - 3 theological virtues - Faith Hope and Love.  1 Cor. 13:13

4. Four calling Birds - 4 gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John

5. Five gold rings - The first five books of the Old Testament also called the Torah or Pentateuch.  These are books of history of man's sin and God's response with grace.  

6. Six geese a laying - God created earth in 6 days, Genesis 1

7. Seven swans a swimming - 7 gifts of the holy spirit: I Cor. 12:8-11
